Both And

I think that there are times that we have to lead and we have to follow.

I follow my husband on some things, and he follows me on other things. He knows more about organization, steadfastness and perseverance than I can fathom; but he can follow me when it comes to loyalty, spontaneity, excitement, and creativity.

I’m leading my children in spiritual matters, homeschool education, decision making, and wisdom. But they teach me every day. My children teach me to pay attention to details and specifics, they teach me to find beauty in tiny places. My eight year old stopped in his tracks, before crossing the street to admire a leaf changing colors. They teach me, and I follow them in wonder.

Sometimes we must lead, sometimes we must follow. Humility is doing what must be done.
